we love manufacturing. EEF manufacturing week 2010

Manufacturing Week, 1-5 March 2010

EEF’s first ever Manufacturing Week has been a massive success. From support in the House of Commons, to events around the country, manufacturers have been making their mark on the debate about the UK’s economic future.

We’ve also had our busiest ever week in the media with over 250 articles in the national, regional and trade press covering our campaign.

Here's what we’ve been up to...

In case you missed it EEF and other organisations published a Manufacturing Supplement in the Daily Telegraph last weekend. There were similar initiatives in the Yorkshire Post and the Newcastle Journal.

On Monday we also released our latest Manufacturing Outlook survey, which showed that manufacturers are looking to the future with greater confidence about the prospects for recovery.

Throughout the week we held a series of activities around the country – you can see some of our Manufacturing Week photos on our flickr site. The Manufacturer magazine also has a special section on its website with more coverage of the week.

Finally, we have written to Parliamentary Candidates across England and Wales with a new document - Back at the Crossroad: a Manifesto for Manufacturing - setting out how and why the next government should put manufacturing at the heart of a better balanced economy.

There’s lots of coverage of this in the press today, but highlights include a major feature in the Independent and an interesting take on the story from the Daily Telegraph.

So what's next for our We ♥ Manufacturing campaign?

EEF would like to thank everyone who has supported us during this week, but the campaign does not stop here.

You can still support our campaign by adding your name to our pledge and watch out for more We ♥ Manufacturing initiatives throughout the year.
